Knives Out has jumped into my Top 5 movies of 2019. This is a modern-day mystery. Every character has a motive except one or depending on who you ask. All the actors were superb, and I hope to see this movie have multiple nominations and awards in the upcoming months. Rian Johnson (Star Wars: Episode VIII) directed and wrote this movie; and even Agatha Christie would be proud. For someone who likes mysteries, but can never guess the killer; this is a MUST-SEE movie.
Knives Out blend modern-day commentary with good old-fashioned sleuthing and mystery-solving. This isn't an episode of Scooby-Doo; but a present-day Hercule Poirot movie. All the characters are a version of someone an individual may know or have known at one point in their lives. Overall, Knives Out takes a look at a family with a lot of problems and the death of their patriarch is the catalyst of it all.
